1 - Mission The Naval Academy is an establishment of high maritime teaching, required to implement the following mission : - The training of officers for the navy and the merchant navy;
- The organization of professional courses with the level of master in:
- maritime matters
- maritime engineering
- The Scientific and technical research in the maritime field.
2 -Training and Organization at the Naval Academy 2-1 Teaching Organization of the "National Navay Section ": The initial training of navy officers lasts three years after school preparatory school and counts two specialties : - Naval bridges and systems ( bridge),
- Naval energy and techniques (machinery).
The training into these two specialties is divided in two phases: First phase : the two first years are allocated to the theoretical and practical training in the scientific and technical maritime field, . The end of this first phase is approved by the obtaining of a diploma of the naval academy officer and the promotion to the rank of second class ensign. Second phase: During the last year of study, the student officer continues his theoretical and practical training and prepares his thesis project. The end of the second phase is approved by a national diploma of engineer and the promotion to the rank of first class ensign. The naval academy equally provides the database training of engineers officers. This discipline includes three options : - Computer System and communication.
- Systems and networks.
- Computer engineering and technological applications .
The training cycle includes two phases: First phase : The two first years are allocated to the theoretical and practical training in the scientific and technical maritime field, . The end of this first year is approved by obtaining of a diploma "naval academy officer" and the promotion to the rank of second class ensign. Second phase: During the last year of studies, the student officer continues his theoretical and practical training and prepares his thesis project. The end of this second phase is approved by obtaining of the national diploma of engineer and the promotion to the rank of first class ensign. 2-2 Teaching Organization of the "Merchant Navy Section ": It includes two disciplines: Discipline of engineer study: It includes two specialties: - Maritime Navigation (Bridges),
- Energy and Machinery (Machinery).
La formation dans cette section dure trois ans et demi et comporte trois phases : First phase : The two first years are allocated to the theoretical and practical training in the scientific and technical maritime fields. The end of the first phase is approved by obtaining of either the diploma of the Naval Academy officer, and the diploma of first class Lieutenant of the Merchant Navy, or the diploma of Lieutenant mechanic of first class and the promotion to the rank of second class ensign . Second phase: During this year of study, the student officer has to follow up a practical training of six months navigation at least on board of merchant navy ships. By the same token, he carries out works of research and prepares his project thesis. The detachement period is approved by the control of training record and the validation of the boarding period. Third phase: During six months of studies, the student officercontinues his theoretical and practical training and prepares his thesis project . The end of this third phase is approved by obtaining a national diploma of engineer in maritime navigation specialty or energy machinery and the diploma of first class captain of the merchant navy or the diploma of mechanic officer first class and the promotion to the rank of first class ensign. Master studies : It includes two specialties: - Navigation maritime (bridge),
- Energie et machinery (Machinery).
The training lasts four years and includes three phases : First phase : The two first years are allocated to the theoretical and practical training in the scientific and technical maritime fields. The end of this first phase is approved by obtaining either of a diploma of second class Lieutenant of the merchant navy (Maritime Navigation ) or of the diploma of Lieutenant mechanic second class (Energy and Machinery). Second phase: During the third year of studies, the student officer is required to follow up a practical training of at least eight months of navigation on board a ship of the merchant navy. Third phase: During the last year of studies, the student officer continues his theoretical and practical training in the specialty. The end of this third phase is approved by the obtaining of either the diploma of master in technology within the specialty "Maritime Navigation " or "Energy and Machinery" and the diploma of Captain second class or of the diploma of officer mechanic second class of the merchant navy and the promotion to the rank of second class ensign.
