Metrology Laboratory of the Signal Direction DEF-NAT (Tunis)
Introduction to the Laboratory

The Metrology Laboratory of the Signal and Informatics Direction « DEF-NAT » Created on 1980, its various works in the field of metrology gave it credentials to be recognized in France by the French Comity of Accreditation (BNM) and accredited since several years by the french Comité d’Accréditation (COFRAC) in the field of Electricity–Magnetism and the field to Time Frequency.

The services supplied by the Laboratory

Laboratory Activities:

Besides its calibration activities of measure instruments to the military, the laboratory « DEF-NAT » takes its place within the framework of supportive institutions to the Tunisian industry by letting the companies and the civilian establishments take advantage of services which meet international standard obligations NF EN ISO/CEI 17025 and allow them to access to certifications ISO 9000.

The principle of calibration consists of undertaking a number of measures so as to verify the accuracy and the precision of clients' equipment notices, these measures are carried out through standards equipments  belonging to the laboratory which provides a greater stability and a better precision, these standard equipment are periodically connected to a French primary laboratory recognized by the COFRAC.

The laboratory delivers later on to the client a worldly recognized calibrate certificate which explains the measures drifts and incertitude of its equipment. The database supplied by the calibrate certificate  helps the client insert the corrective terms into the measures carried out with the calibrated equipment and define the calibration periodicity of its equipments according to the importance of its drifts.

The conditions for taking advantage of laboratory services:

Any person or company who wishes to calibrate  its equipments at National Defense laboratory  sends an application to the Minister of the National Defense to the next address :
National Defense Ministry – Bab Mnara 1008 – Tunis – TUNISIE.
This application should contain information’s on the company and the equipment to calibrate.

When the answer is favorable, a convention will be concluded between the two sides. The bill in relation to the services supplied by the National Defense laboratory is strictly calculated on the base of the product   Number man x Number Hour and which is about 62,000 dinars (2007) the unit with a yearly increase to be fixed by the Ministry of the National Defense.

The delays:

The companies and the establishments, having concluded conventions with the Ministry of the National Defense, will  communicate to the Direction of Signal and Informatics fifteen (15) days before every operation a detailed list of  equipments to be calibrate. The signal and Informatics Direction will provide a favorable opinion to this request and the measures fields of equipments as well as the availability of the National Defense  laboratory

The accreditations of the  laboratory DEF-NAT

The laboratory is accredited by the French Comity of Accreditation (COFRAC) for the field of Electricity–Magnetism and  of  time frequency.

 

Laboratory is accredited by the French Accreditation Committee (DKD) for the frequency range
The Laboratory is accredited by the National Council for Accreditation (TUNAC) for the field of Electricity and Magnetism-Time-Frequency.
